From Student to Disciple!
Learnings from GuruPurnima at Srividya Jnana Peetham (Kanchipuram)
Guru Purnima is a sacred and significant day in many traditions, celebrating the relationship between a spiritual teacher (guru) and their disciples. It's often marked by expressions of gratitude, reflection on teachings received, and spiritual practices.
For me personally participating in this years Guru Purnima at the Peetham ( Srividya Gynana Peetham, Kanchipuram) was a deeply fulfilling experience.
I had a profound and humbling experience witnessing the Panchadashi Deeksha ceremony, where individuals from diverse backgrounds and ages, including a 16-year-old and senior citizens, received initiation. The dedication of Volunteers from around the world, who include Doctors and Senior Executives, to serve at the Peetham reflects the profound influence of Guruji on his disciples.
As a Student of the Peetham for the past year or so, I am slowly recognizing the journey ahead to truly become a Disciple, Overcoming ego , the distractions of the mind and a selfless devotion to Guru is a significant part of this journey towards self-transcendence and deeper discipleship.
Guruji's words left a profound impact on me: "If one is Mindful, one is Soul-less; if one is Mindless, one becomes Soul-full." This teaching has resonated deeply within me, presenting a significant personal learning journey.
I understand that transitioning from a state of being Mindful to Mindless , and from being Soul-less to Soulfull , is a transformative process. It requires letting go of the constraints of the mind and ego to connect more deeply with the soul and essence within. And Guru is the only person on the earth who can show us that path.
I wish to embrace this journey with gratitude for the wisdom imparted by Guruji, knowing it will lead to greater spiritual growth and fulfilment.
